The Buckeye Public Library invites students, families, and chess enthusiasts of all skill levels to participate in our Library Chess Club, held every Thursday at 4:00 PM at the Coyote Library.
Why Join?
Chess is more than just a game—it’s a powerful tool that builds critical thinking, problem-solving, and patience while fostering a sense of community and mentorship. Whether you're just learning how to move the pieces or preparing for competitive play, our club offers a welcoming and structured environment for all.
How It Works
♟️ Mentor/Student Learning Structure – New players will be paired with experienced mentors, creating a supportive environment for learning and growth.
♟️ Weekly Meet-Ups – Every Thursday, we focus on a new chess move or concept, followed by an engaging activity where participants analyze a game in progress and figure out how to checkmate in the fewest moves.
♟️ Tournament Play – Every two months, on the last Thursday, we hold a club tournament where players put their skills to the test.
♟️ Looking Ahead – By the end of the year, our goal is to become an official US Chess Federation-affiliated tournament site, opening opportunities for rated games and larger competitive events.
Who Can Join?
All ages and skill levels welcome – whether you're new to the game or an experienced player!
No registration required – just drop in and play!
Get Involved!
