The Buckeye Public Library invites students, families, and chess enthusiasts of all skill levels to participate in our Library Chess Club, held every Monday beginning at 3:30 PM at the Downtown Library.
Program Schedule
♟️ 3:30 PM – 4:00 PM | Workshop: Chess Basics – The Board and How Pieces Move (June 1st)
Participants will learn or review the fundamentals of chess, including board setup, piece movement, and basic gameplay concepts. This guided workshop is perfect for beginners and anyone looking to strengthen their foundation.
♟️ 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM | Open Play
Put your skills into practice during open play! Challenge friends, meet new opponents, and enjoy casual games in a welcoming environment.

How It Works
♟️ Mentor/Student Learning Structure – New players will be paired with experienced mentors, creating a supportive environment for learning and growth.
♟️ Weekly Learning Opportunities – Each week, participants will explore a chess concept or strategy and then apply what they’ve learned through guided games and open play.
Who Can Join?
All ages and skill levels welcome – whether you're new to the game or an experienced player!
No registration required – just drop in and play!
